Have you ever had a friend that when they did something that required practice to get better at, they not only got better, but improved very fast and became extremely talented at it?

Well, I can't say that they got extremely talented at it, but... Okay, so I play guitar. Have been playing for like 8 years now. More. Except I have no natural talent. I had to work my fingers raw on numerous occasions in order to get as good as I am today--NOT TO MENTION that I've had to train my ears in order to memorize specific intervals, chords, and scale patterns. Had to learn how to read sheet music in treble and bass clef.

All that comes naturally to my best friend, without practice. He doesn't even know what the C Major scale is, or the E minor pentatonic, and he can tell when something is played out of key, or my guitar is out of tune before I can. He just naturally has perfect pitch. He also has an innate sense of melody, and is a great improviser and songwriter, even if at the end of the day he can't read sheet music and I have better technique on the instrument.

So. Yeah. I know a person like that. If he ever really committed to music, he'd surpass me within a year or two.
