It adds a bit of an edge to the music, that could either appeal to you or put you off. Personally, I don't mind it; seems to fit the atmosphere of the song well, so it works in my books. Either way, it will always come down to the question of "how well is it utilised?" I'm a firm believer that almost any musical "tool" can be used in a "good" way.
