Origami Book Blank by Nichrysalis

Just look at that, it's beautiful. After about 8 hours of painstaking trial and error I have this to show for it. It's the third design for my origami book and also the third attempt at the the third design type, which uses a technique developed by an origami bookmaker called crown binding, called such because of the crown shape it forms at the top and bottom of the spine as shown in the photo. The crown binding holds the pages in place without glue or adhesive via some folds that creates a pocket crease. Even so, when I start sending these out, I will be using something to keep the pages more reliably in place.

The pages are made of vellum paper and as such are translucent, making for an interesting material for text to be printed on. The spine and cover is made out of a cream-colored cardstock and is where most of the folding is involved. So that's that. There's still more work ahead. I need to figure out how printing will work with the vellum paper and the formatting, font and size of the text to be printed on the page and whether printing on both sides of translucent paper conflicts too much with the text on each side. On top of that, it looks very... blank. I'll look into ways to bring out some texture or embellish it a little more. I have my work cut out for me.
