NO LONGER LIVE, BUT IT MAY BE IN THE FUTURE! ;)

:new: Hey guys, you may have noticed I've been a bit lax on writing the poem requests, however, I'll be in google docs for an hour or more working on your poem requests here: docs.google.com/document/d/130… Come in and have a look, even make suggestions! Beware of my slow typing! ^^;

A little while ago betwixtthepages posted this awesome journal where she wrote poems upon request, which may or may not have been an idea gleaned from elsewhere. :shifty:

But, I've been burning through topics to write on lately, and when writing fixed form poetry, having the topic in mind is a must, and I've also been on a fixed form poetry binge lately. So here's how this is going to go down:

What do you have to do?

  • Comment on this journal
  • Give me an idea what you'd like the poem to be about. It's my job to write it, but I must be clear on what you want!
  • Choose a fixed form you want the poem to be written in. I may ask you to choose a shorter form.
  • Mention any other pertinent information/specifics (i.e. 'use these words' or 'write in a specific meter')

If you're clueless about fixed forms, check out BeccaJS' A-Z of Poetry Forms! and have a look around.

PE: Poetry Forms- An A-Z An A-Z of Poetry Forms!
Hello!
To kick start this week at projecteducate, we're starting off with a slightly lighter-hearted article listing just some of the poetic forms that exist out there. Lets be honest, there are hundreds and we can't list every single one. This is just a slice of the forms out there and if you are wishing to expand your understanding of different forms, do some research and don't take this as gospel!
Each form has a direct link to a site that describes the form in more detail, usually with examples too. I have also included some good examples from dA when I have found them.
Yes some of these link to wikipedia!
A
ABC- A poem where each word, line or stanza starts with the next continuous letter of the alphabet. Also known as an "Abcedarian"
