Daily Lit Deviant is an article put out on a daily basis throughout the year that is devoted to showing the work and accomplishments of one writer per article and presenting exemplary pieces of their work. It is based off of bowie-loon123's series of articles of the same name.

Join me in welcoming BeyondJen as our Daily Lit Deviant for February 1st, 2014.

Jen is appreciative of everything, however little and important, and this is often reflected in her work— patches of words where she has often bared a part of herself or her past in the text in the most vulnerable of ways.

I'd like to take a moment to say that on deviantART, BeyondJen was my first read here with her piece, No Longer Anonymous, and it holds a special place with me. After I discovered there was a literature community here thanks to LadyLincoln's longstanding 30 Writers series, this was the first place I ended up. I haven't looked back.

What deviants are saying about this piece

This is brilliantly written. I know it was written a long time ago, but I still feel the need to express my opinion on this piece of writing. When I had finished reading, I felt like I wouldn't quite know what to say, but I feel like I have to say something anyways. I was so touched by your words, I can't imagine how it felt to open up about this, let alone live it in the first place. I must express my admiration towards you. You have shown unbelievable courage right here, and I for one, am definately not as brave as you are.

As I was reading this, I was transfixed by what was written, wishing it weren't true but knowing it was the opposite. Needless to say I was highly affected by it, not only because of its content, but also because for me, it's the first time I hear about this so close to home, as it were (by that, I mean not on TV or anything). I know that may sound stupid, but it kind of brings it home for me. Luhmoax

Wow. Not just because goddamn does medical billing turn the most harrowing of experiences into a legal tangle, but also because this is a remarkable look at identity and how deeply something like this affects it, especially when it's written down like that.

Thanks for sharing this. I can't imagine it was easy to write, or even to think back to.neurotype-on-discord

I read this before I knew you at all, and it gave me chills
at the time, and left me aching for and impressed with the author.
Now it breaks my heart.riparii

A phenomenal poem with a chilling metaphor.

Lovely. Really captures that loneliness of roadways completely buried beneath a big snowstorm.ZombieToofer

I love how quiet it feels, even with the plows making all that racketSilverInkblot

It is complete now... and perfect. It's almost like prose in that it's very readable, and moves you onward with every word, but has the nuances and meter of poetry.Karinta

deviantART loves BeyondJen

To suggest someone to be a Daily Lit Deviant, contact me via note with the person you would like to see featured and two pieces of their work. A few words about the writer and their work are welcomed, but not necessary. You are free to suggest yourself as well— and I encourage you to do so!
