The problem with saying you are self-taught
is that not everyone is cut out for teaching.

About this Bitlet

This bitlet stems back to a forum post I saw a while back that I believe was made by either raspil, neurotype, or PinkyMcCoversong stating that there is no such thing as being self-taught. I happen to fall into that line of thinking, but what do you guys think, is being self-taught an accurate description of how someone has learned their craft?

Bitlets are about quantity, not quality. Free-write at least one a day about what is on your mind, going on around you, or the state of your life. Ignore the urge to edit; it's not about being profound on purpose, it's about stumbling on it by accident.

Well, people who say they are self taught often just mean they had no formal teaching and I take no issue with that because resources or no, it does take an inordinate amount of effort and not everyone can in fact do it without the teacher and formal study of a classroom.
It's funny because at first I totally took this another way. To mean that some people who say they are 'self taught' could have used some better education.
